Congratulations to the Waukesha Hockey team!!! The other day I was at the West Town Mall in Madison. I saw a group of high school students in the Food Court. Some had hockey sticks so I went up and talked to them.. They told me that they were the coop hockey team from Waukesha North. They even had some South players on the team . After talking to them for a while I wished them Good Luck... They were a nice bunch of kids and they were there to play Edgewood.. Well, you know the rest of the story!!

Since nobody else has responded to Pete's poetic challenge, I offer this translation of Theodor Storm's 1843 poem, The Song of the Harp Girl:
"Today, oh today, I am so beautiful,
Tomorrow, oh tomorrow, must everything pass away!
Only this hour, are you still mine;
Dying, oh dying should I alone"
Well, it loses something in translation, but it's basically a lament on life: youthful beauty fades over time, live life in the moment before inevitable death. Cheers!

Wow, Did you see our USA Ladies win the World Cup?? Great job and congratulations!!
The other day I purchased an old German book at a rummage sale. The book was a collection of stories by Theodore Storm , a famous german writer. After reading Immensee, one of his stories, I read the following which was interesting when I was 16 years old. I did not really get it though but today I do... Here it is:
Heute ach Heute , bin ich so schoen;
Morgen ach Morgen muss alles vergehen:
Nur diese Stunde bist du noch mein;
Sterben ach Sterben soll ich allein.
No, I am not going to translate it. I'll let you figure it out. Anyway, Here is my story: My German teacher , Mrs. Ruth Lemke made me read German literature at Waukesha High School. She was a great german teacher!
When I took German for an easy "A" I thought I could breeze through it without doing a lot of work. Mrs. Lemke, however, had other ideas. She developed an advanced placement course for me way before AP courses were invented. She was a teacher who was ahead of her times! She introduced me to German Literature and I am now thanking her for all of her efforts. This was Waukesha High School in the fifties!..They were really ahead of the times. Thank you Waukesha H.S. and Mrs. Lemke, German teacher at WHS, for one great education... Danke vielmal.... Peter

A quick update on what I\'ve been up to last year. Racing with AHRMA I finished 8th in Production Lightweight on an early 70\'s Honda 350 twin. My races in the South also put me in 4th place in the Dixie Cup Series (also AHRMA). Built a Production Heavyweight bike also - 1982 Yamaha 650 Special, and crashed it at Barber Motorsports in Alabama. Had a nice set of third place finishes at Daytona, our season finale. Am building two bikes for the upcoming season - 1981 Honda 750F Supersport and a 1972 Honda CL450. Working in an unheated garage is a pain. I\'ll try to keep you updated on the upcoming season.

Dear Classmate:
We hope that you have enjoyed the just-completed holidays. This email is to mention additions made to the 1960 class web site. For example, it now has information about deceased classmates in the In Memoriam section.
Perhaps you have recollections, remembrances, or wonderful stories of some of your deceased classmates. Would you share these thoughts? If so, please e-mail them to Bruce Menzel or me for posting after we review comments for content, length (limit of 400 words), and grammar.
In the past, most of us posted our "profile" in the Classmates section. Feel free to add to, amend, or list such information for the first time.
Thanks for your interest in the web site and any help you may provide.
Hi everyone....I am surprised at the lack of comments on here. I check this site out once a month and see nothing??? Go to any other site and they will charge you.. Here we are, thanks to the computer guros of Mike Rose, et al, and no one is commenting? Where are you? Are you alive and well? I hope so... Happy 2013!!! I never , ever thought that I would make it this far but here I am at age 71.. I\'d love to hear from any of you to see how you are... I will guarantee you an answer in English!!! Peter

The 1965 class reunion was the best. It was a priveledge to see my old coaches and friends. Nice web site too.
It has been a tough week and I have gone to several funerals.... Now, As I am getting older I really appreciate the time we had in H.S. Today, I go to many different schools and talk about immigration and WWII. Kids have really not changed, they have a lot more information and face a lot more problems than we ever had. Take some time to get to know them by visiting your local H.S. I believe you will be impressed! I am still convinced that we have the best education system in the world...Check it out, I do.....Take time to leave a note here,,. Love to see more comments......Pete

What a wonderful surprise to see the Waukesha North High School band in the Macy\'s Thanksgiving Day parade. Participation in this parade is by invitation only, so they must be pretty good. What little we got to see of them was impressive. Love their uniforms...bet they aren\'t made of wool!

Anyone watching the WORLD CUP? Although it made no great difference, maybe it is time for FIFA to go to "instant replay" . Is it because I played the game, coached, watched and lived it? Anyway, does anyone know where the 1958 or 1962 World Cup was played and who was in it? DOES ANYONE CARE? I DO! Since the USA is out (sorry to say) Watch Germany go against Argentina on Saturday, July 3rd.. GO GO Deutschland! - Pete

I HAVE SOME THOUGHTS BUT DO NOT WANT TO MENTION ANY NAMES, YET....LET\'S GET SOME DISCUSSION GOING.. BY THE WAY, I GOT TO KNOW MR. HEIN (THE SUPERINTENDENT) WHEN WE WERE IN H.S. AND WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE I WENT TO A BOARD MEETING TO REPORT ON IT. WHAT A WONDERFUL MAN. ..HE RECOGNIZED ME AND WELCOMED ME AND THIS WAS A SCHOOL DISTRICT OF MORE THAN HOW MANY STUDENTS?? WOW, WERE WE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!!!! PETE

Classmates – dig through your “box” of old photos and send them off to be included on our web site. They will be returned to you. Be sure you include a caption as it would be more interesting to all to know what / who we are viewing.
If necessary another classification may be created to give further clarification to the photos being presented
